Why would they call lineups of episodes a "season?" What's the origin of the word?

The reason a lineup of episodes is called a "season" is closely related to weather "seasons." In America, writers apparently schedule for four seasons in the beginning, which equals the number of seasons in a year. But it's also related to the number of episodes in a season. The scheduled release of a season spans the time of three months - a calendar season. Although this isn't a strict rule, I understand that this is how it worked in the beginning. With streaming, it can be a bit different these days! Ex: I can't wait for the next season of the show! Ex: This season is going to be better than last. => could say this about weather or TV
