What does "set an example" mean? and how do you use it?
Native speaker’s answer
Rebecca
To "set an example" means to model good behavior or act as a good example for others to imitate. The speaker has used this expression to state that it is important to set an example (i.e. model a good example) of learning to forgive others and move on. The speaker is referencing the highly publicized fight Katy Perry had with Taylor Swift. Ex: Parents should set an example for their kids. Ex: If you set a bad example, others will copy your poor behavior.
