What's the difference between "major" and "expertise"? Don't they both refer to one's specialty?

"Expertise" means skill or knowledge in a field or occupation. "Expertise" is learned through experience or exposure to something. "Major" is a specific field that someone studies in university or college. Having a major doesn't necessarily mean they have "expertise" in that area. Ex: She majored in psychology. Ex: Her expertise would really benefit us.
