"Inertia" means a tendency to remain unchanged or do nothing. It's also a physics term for when matter exists in an unchanging state or in a uniform motion. Actually, it's not a very common word outside of physics, but it does sound nice and can be quite poetic and meaningful if you use it in relation to things that have remained the way they are or to explain the way you experience everyday life. Ex: It's like there's a state of inertia in this small town. Everything and every day is the same, which is why I prefer big cities. Ex: In an attempt to overcome the inertia of life, I made the impulse decision to buy a boat and start sailing.
