When something is likely to happen, it means that the probability or chance of it occurring is high. Thus, "stressed participants ... were more likely to share in a game ... to win money" means that participants under stress showed a higher chance of sharing in these money games. Ex: It's likely to rain today. (The chance of rain today is high) Ex: He's very likely to win the election. (The chance of him winning the election is high)
