Would it sound awkward if I say "round" instead of "around" in this context?

People sometimes shorten "around" to "'round" when speaking. However, this is usually only done in casual situations or if a person has a speaking habit in which they drop the "a" sound at the beginning of the word, like people sometimes do in some southern states in America. Ex: What you doin' 'round here? Ex: It's quiet 'round these parts. This town is quite small.
