The main difference between "disposable" and "expendable" is that if something is "disposable," it means it can be thrown away, but if something is "expendable," it means that it is of little use. Ex: We got disposable plates and cups for the picnic. They'll be useful since then we don't have to clean dishes. Ex: The party decorations in the office cupboard are expendable at this point. We may as well get rid of them.
