What's the difference between "connect to" and "connect with"?

"Connect to" means to physically join or fasten things together. "Connect with" means to have a positive or meaningful relationship with someone that usually happens quickly. Ex: The rib bones are connected to the sternum. Ex: We have to connect this wire to that outlet. Ex: I instantly connected with her at my sister's wedding. Ex: She had a very special connection with her dog.
