What's the main difference between a "babysitter" and a "nanny?"

Babysitters and nannies both watch children while their parents are away, but babysitters are more temporary. They may watch the kids for a few hours at a time, but nannies are more involved and may be full-time employees just for taking care of the children. They might also take on more responsibilities like housekeeping, cooking, or education, depending on the family. Ex: I used to babysit for neighborhood kids while I was in high school. Ex: My husband and I have very busy jobs, so we hired a full-time nanny to watch our kids.
