Saying "into" instead of "in" is perfectly acceptable! Perhaps better. It has a slightly more dramatic tone to it. Ex: Your face is so close to the flowers, you might as put your whole face into them. Ex: Don't scrape the bowl with your fingers. You should've just put your whole hand into the mixture.
