"Tune out" is a phrasal verb, and if one "tunes out" something or someone, it means that you stop listening or paying attention to them. It can also mean excluding a sound or frequency. Ex: We tuned out the bass from the sound mix of the CD. Ex: If the lecture is boring, I tune out completely. Ex: My grandpa always watches TV. I've learnt to just tune it out. => ignore it.
