"Intervene" means to involve oneself or to come between something or someone to prevent or change the result of something ~ "To involve oneself." It can also refer to something coming between two events, places, or points in time. Ex: Right, it's time for me to intervene and stop this fight between Sarah and Marshall. Ex: Two weeks intervened between the court cases. Ex: The city council had to intervene to settle the issue of construction on public property.
