In English grammar, what's the main difference between "thus" and "therefore?" Or are they always interchangeable?

They are pretty much interchangeable! The main difference is that "therefore" means "for that reason" and "thus" means "in this way", but the meanings are quite similar. Ex: There will be a lot of traffic, therefore we must leave early. Ex: It rained heavily, causing an accident. Thus, traffic came to a standstill.
