What does "boot" mean? and does this word have something to do with "the shoes (boots)"?

To "boot up" is to start up a computer system by turning it on and allowing the operating system is loaded. It refers to the process of starting a computer from an off or offline state, making it ready to perform any computing operation. It is not related to the word boot but is instead related to another computer word, bootstrap, which means to use one system to start another. Ex: My laptop won't boot and shows a blank screen. Ex: Give the computer time to boot up.
