"Go out" has a couple of meanings! The first is to literally go to a place; to leave one's house and go somewhere. The second means "to date" someone romantically. Here it's funny because you're not sure which one he's referring to! Ex: They went out for two weeks and then broke up. Ex: We're going out to party tonight.
