What does "die down" mean? Could you give me some examples?

To "die down" means to gradually become less strong, to become weaker. "Wind's died down" here means that the wind has become weaker. Ex: The storm is starting to die down. I think we can go outside soon. Ex: The screaming and excitement of the baseball fans didn't die down once during the game. It was a successful season opener.
