"Ph.D" is stands for "Doctor of Philosophy," which is the highest academic degree you can achieve. It is a type of doctorate degree and for the university system, usually goes in order of: associate's degree (~2 years), bachelor's (4 years), master's (1-2 years), and Ph.D (4+ years). Ex: My economics professor has a Ph.D from Oxford. Ex: I will be a Ph.D student starting in the fall.
