Since the "climate" and "weather" has a similar meaning, would it be okay to say "weather change"?

Not quite, as the "climate" is something that affects the "weather". "Weather" is used in relation to specific times and places. One usually describes "weather" as rain, storms, sunny days, overcast, dry, cold, hot, snow, and so on. "Climate" refers to temperature and weather that generally occurs or occurs over a long period of time. Ex: They say the climate in that region is tropical. It's a decent spot to live in if you like warm weather. Ex: Ah no! The weather is so extreme now, thanks to climate change. I wish it wasn't so hot and dry.
