Native speaker’s answer

"Bed-ridden" means to be bed-bound, to not be able to perform regular daily tasks as one is unable to leave the bed (usually due to sickness, injury, or old age). It's more old-fashioned than bed-bound, which is more commonly used today. Ex: The old lady was bed-ridden after falling and breaking her hip. Ex: I was sick when I was younger and was often bed-bound for months at a time.
