Just curious. Does "slippery" have something to do with "slipper" that we wear for shoes?

I'd say they both come from the word "slip" but have slightly different meanings of "slip." "Slip" in the name "slipper" means to slide or place into something. "Slip" in "slippery" means to unintentionally slide on something. In my mind, however, "slippers" can stop us from "slipping" on the floor. So they are somewhat connected! Ex: I'm just gonna slip on another shirt. Ex: Don't slip on the floor, Jen! Ex: The floor is so slippery. Ex: I need to buy some new slippers.
