A "therapist" is a licensed psychologist or counselor that uses talk therapy to deal with mental health symptoms, manage stress, and improve relationships. A "doctor" can diagnose and prescribe medicine; they're qualified to practice medicine. Ex: I went to a therapist with John today to chat through a few issues we've been having. It really helped! Ex: My friend's studying to become a therapist. Ex: Psychiatrists are medical doctors that can prescribe medicine for mental health disorders. Ex: The doctor told me I have a cold.
