The word "sap" as slang has a couple of meanings. The first being a "stupid" or pitiful person. The second meaning is emotional or sentimental. Ex: I was very sappy when I said goodbye to my friend. I even cried. Ex: For my birthday he got me flowers and wrote me a card. It was a bit sappy but very cute of him! Ex: What a sap. Why did he have to say that? It was so rude. Ex: Tim was acting like a sap when I tried to talk to him.
