Why is "for" being used in the end of the sentence?

"For" is a preposition in this case and is used to indicate the person that something is given to or the purpose that something is to be used for. It is very common in English to end a sentence with a preposition, however, it makes the sentence sound a little less formal. Ex: What did you buy this shovel for? Ex: She is a difficult person to shop for. I never know what to get her.
