"Now the day bleeds" is a rather poetic way of saying "now the day turns into." To "bleed" also has the meaning of draining, seeping, or exhausting something or someone of things or resources. You can gain context clues from the words that follow, "into nightfall." "Now the day bleeds into nightfall" can thus be understood as "now the day turns into night." Of course, we don't speak like this in real life but it's quite common to use metaphorical expressions like this in music or literature. Ex: Darkness is bleeding into the sky. Ex: The lake is slowly being bled dry.
