A hairstyle is simply any way you choose to style or wear your hair: in a ponytail, combed back, in a bun, brushed straight, gelled up, curled, and so on. Meanwhile, a haircut refers to the actual action of getting one's hair cut or shortened. Thus, you can get a haircut (get your hair cut), but you wear/do a hairstyle. Ex: I got a haircut at the hair salon. Now, my hair is much shorter. Ex: My daily hairstyle is just a simple bun. It's elegant and keeps my hair out of my face.
