Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

"To go for" actually means to "select" or "choose" something. So, when the speaker says "I went for one of everything," it actually means that they chose and got one of each kind. This is a very informal expression often used by native speakers. Ex: A: Which ice cream flavor do you want? B: I'm gonna go for mango. A: Cool. I'm going to go for strawberry, and we can share.
