"More than meets the eye" is an idiom that means that something involves more of something than it first appears or is expected to have. It is often used either when something seems very simple but is actually very complicated or when something is more useful than it first appears. Ex: There is more to this tool than meets the eye. Ex: Not only is he a talented singer but he can dance and paint too. There's much more to him than meets the eye.
