What does "sauteed" mean? Is it different from "fried"?

To "sauté" something means to fry something quickly in a pan with a small amount of oil or fat. Frying something requires to immerse the ingredients in oil, and results in an oily, crispier dish. Ex: I like to sauté vegetables with olive oil. Ex: Sautéing food is healthier than frying it.
