In Hinduism, the cow is considered sacred and cannot be eaten. For example, the goddess Kamadhenu is said to have manifested as a wish-granting divine cow. Thus, cows are treated with respect and celebrated during certain religious holidays. Additionally, some Hindus are vegetarian and do not eat any type of meat at all.
