Can I say "so far" instead of "too far" in this context?

"So" and "too" can be applied to other things in the same way. You can also use "so far" as a time expression for "until now". Ex: It's too far to go to the shops. Let's take the bikes instead. Ex: We walked so far, we can't go back now. Ex: I drank so much tea. Now I'm full. Ex: There's too much tea to drink. Ex: So far, I have been to three restaurants in three days. => Until now
