What does "help promise to combat" mean? I don't know the role of "promise" here. "help promise to combat" sounds the same as "help to combat".

"Help promise to combat" means to vow to fight something. The word "promise" means to vow or pledge to something; you are vowing to complete an action. For example, if you tell someone that you promise to keep a secret, you are vowing to not tell anyone else that secret. "Help to combat" is a little different than "help promise to combat." It essentially has the same meaning, but you promising to help is more of a commitment than "help to combat." Ex: He said he would promise to help combat bullying in his school. Ex: Scientists are helping to combat different diseases.
