student asking question

I think the sentence order should be like "I couldn't see the things I cared about online". But why is it said in this order? Is anything skipped here?

You are correct in saying the sentence order can be "I couldn't see the things I cared about online." However, "the things I cared about, I couldn't see online" is also perfectly acceptable, and nothing has been omitted here. Some people like to use this inverted sentence structure, especially to add impact to one's words or balance and pause to a sentence. This is more common for formal occasions and not typically used in casual conversation. Ex: I went back into the house because I forgot my keys. = Because I forgot my keys, I went back into the house. Ex: She spits out her food because it was too hot. = The food was too hot, she spits it out.
