Don't resume and CVs the same thing? If not, what's the main difference between them?

They are mostly interchangeable! In European countries, a CV is used to describe all kinds of application documents, including CVs. In the US and Canada, they are sometimes interchangeable. CVs might be a little longer than a resume and could include more background about yourself. A resume focuses on qualifications and experience. But really, you could say either one to mean the same thing. Ex: Applicants are asked to send a CV and cover letter. Ex: You'll need a resume before you start applying for jobs.
