What does "take [something] over" mean? In what circumstances could I use it?

Here, "take [something] over" means to change subjects. One "takes" or "leads" the conversation to a new topic. This can be used when leading conversations or as an MC of an event. It can also indicate to people to physically move somewhere else or to draw their attention there. It also means to assume control or possession of something. Ex: Jane had to take over the meeting since I was sick. => assume control Ex: Let's take it over to the other band members and ask them a few questions. => leading an interview Ex: We're gonna take this little hang out over to the sofas over there. Come on, everyone. => physically moving Ex: Now, if we were to take it over to the party the other night, Ryan went a bit wild. => change of subject
