Is "appointment" same as "reservation?"

They're slightly different! An "appointment" is between two people or a business like the doctors, embassy, dentist, and so on. "Reservation" is used for services like hotels, tables at a restaurant, or something similar. Here, they made an appointment with the dentist, but you wouldn't make a reservation with a dentist; you'd make a reservation for a party hall on a certain date or for dinner at a restaurant. Ex: I reserved a table for six people. Ex: I have my check-up appointment this morning at the clinic.
