People say "you know" a lot when talking. Does it mean something or it's just a filler word?

Usually, "you know" is simply used as a filler word, much like the words "um" or "like." It doesn't mean anything in particular! It's also sometimes used as a way to imply that the listener already knows what the speaker is saying/about to say. Ex: I already graduated, you know. I'm not a student anymore. Ex: You know, it's going to rain later today.
