What does "pay-off" mean? Could you give me some examples?

A "pay-off" is like a benefit or a reward. It's saying that something is worth the effort with the result you get afterwards. Ex: I love volunteering. Seeing how much I can help people is a huge pay-off! Ex: Exercising and eating healthily for the last few months has really paid off. I've lost weight! Ex: Driving all the way to your parents for Christmas will pay off when you see their faces.
