student asking question

I heard "marry" doesn't need a preposition when it's used as a verb. Does "get married" need a preposition or not?

A lot of people think that "marry" must be used with "with," but that isn't usually the case. If you want to talk about the person to whom one has gotten married, you can use "to." If you want to talk about the place, you can use "in." But the base verb itself does not necessarily need to be used with a preposition, nor with "get." Ex: I don't want to get married. Ex: She married her childhood sweetheart. Ex: He got married in the same church his parents got married in.
