The difference between "beside" and "besides" is that "beside," without an "s," means "close to" or "next to." "Besides," with the "s," means in addition to, or apart from, and is similar to "in any case!" Ex: You'll find the jacket beside the washing machine. Ex: I placed the book beside my coffee, but then I accidentally spilled my coffee all over the book! Ex: Let's just go home instead of going out to eat. Besides, I'm not that hungry. Ex: Besides, do you even like action films?
