Among its most famous crops, it is especially famous for its peaches, called "Georgia peaches." Thus, you'll often hear this reference in pop culture. Now, with Justin Bieber's song, the fact that Georgia grows many peaches has become internationally known - however, note that "I got my peaches out in Georgia" isn't meant to be taken literally here. It is likely a euphemism for something else.

So, even if countries have different systems, with so much travel and immigration, they probably have to have policies in place to maintain it. Ex: If I teach English overseas, I still have to make sure I'm paying tax to my country. Ex: Do you know what the international tax policies are with immigrating and working remotely?

"Near" is interchangeable with "close" in relation to distance and physical spaces, but if you're talking about abstract ideas and other things that aren't easily measured physically, then "close" is best to use.
