"Width" refers to how wide something is, and "length" refers to how long something is. In geometry, "width" is the shorter side, and "length" is the longer side of a shape. Ex: The ladder's length is 3 meters, and its width is, like, 40 centimeters. Ex: The length of an Olympic pool is 50 meters, and its width is 25 meters. Ex: The width of the curtains has to be a little longer than the width of the window.
