At This Time of the Year, You've Probably Already Heard These Expressions
More Than Once👀

From Christmas Movie Night classics like 'Home Alone' and the 'Harry Potter' series, to Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande songs and carols playing in cafes. Some of these Christmas contents are so famous, you might've already memorized all the lines or lyrics. Well first, prepare the RedKiwi app🙌 Let's watch the content again, this time more carefully. Let's learn the actual meaning of the expressions, so that this Christmas, we can be confident in our English!

🎄'Feeling Christmas...?'

This is an expression that is used often in carols. Even Ariana Grande's 'Santa Tell Me' includes the expression with the lyrics 'feeling Christmas all around'. I wondered if it was a commonly used expression in the United States, and I learned that 'Christmas' didn't mean just Christmas, but it included the whole Christmas atmosphere (or vibe). I means that you can feel the atmosphere because it is full of all symbolic elements and it's a commonly used expression. For example, 'After having some ice cream, I really got the summer feeling.'!

🎄Christmas Expressions in British English

What does England and Christmas remind you of...? For me, Harry Potter! While watching Harry Potter, you can learn many British Christmas expressions. Let's take a look at a couple of them! When saying Christmas greetings, we're very familiar with 'Merry Christmas'. But in England, 'Happy Christmas'is also used as much as 'Merry Christmas'. Also, in England, the day after Christams is called 'Boxing Day', because it's the day to open Christmas gifts (boxes). It is said that it originated from the custom of the English upper class giving out Christmas boxes to their servants.

🎄The Number #1 Scene in 'Home Alone'?

Kevin is our best friend we meet every Christmas! I hope all of you have already seen the heartwarming and hilarious film, 'Home Alone'. There are many famous scenes, but my personal favorite is when Kevin is getting ready in front of the bathroom mirror, pretending that he's an adult. Kevin washed his hair with adult shampoo and even used cream to make his hair shine. Let's take a look at his lines from the scene! "I washed my hair with adult formula shampoo and used cream rinse for that just-washed shine."
