Kiwi asks…

What's the main difference between a "harness" and a "saddle?"

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

A "harness" is a kind of support for control made out of straps and belts. You can get different ones for different purposes! A "saddle" is a seat fastened on the back of a horse, specifically for riding horses or other animals for riding. One can also get a "harness" to support and control a horse, but that's not a harness's only use. Ex: The harness connects to the cart and the horse. And then the horse pulls the cart. Ex: This saddle is very uncomfortable to sit on. Ex: Harnesses keep you safe when you're rock climbing.
