A "short film" is any original motion picture that runs for 40 minutes or less, including all credits. "Short film" is the proper, most commonly used name for this type of film. It is sometimes called a "short." Ex: My favorite direction recently released an animated short. Ex: I prefer watching full-length movies over short films.
