Kiwi asks…

What's "bring it home" mean?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

Here, "bring it home" means to score the final points for the "home" team to win. It's the "home" team since they're playing on the "home ground" of their school. This phrase can be used for a lot of sports! In the context of baseball specifically, George has to run to the "home base" to score the points, so it could also refer to that. "Bring it home" can also mean to understand how serious something is, to see something clearly, or to conclude something cohesively. Ex: Seeing my name on the list really brought it home for me that I was going to a new school. Ex: We're gonna bring it home this weekend at the basketball game. Ex: And finally, to bring it home, our main goal is to get new customers.
