Kiwi asks…

What does "coppa" mean? And when do we use it?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

"Coppa" is a slang term for a police officer or cop. Most of the time, "coppa" isn't used for a police officer. You can use this term when talking about the police. Here is a list of words that are more commonly used to call the police officers: Cop, Officer, Copper, The fuzz (referring to the police as a whole), The feds. If you ever have to deal with the police (hopefully you never have to), I only recommend you call the cop "Officer." If you were to call him or her some of these slang terms, you could possibly get into a lot of trouble, so be careful!
