What's the origin of the modern Olympics? I'm sure it is quite different with an ancient Greek Olympics!
Answer from a Native speaker
Actually, the origins aren't that different! The original Olympic Games were a series of athletic competitions that were held every two or four years in Olympic, modern-day Greece. Later, inspired by the ancient Olympic Games, the first modern summer Olympics were held in 1896 in Athens. These are the first Olympics as we know them and they were organized by the newly-created International Olympic Committee (IOC). The concept of the games have largely stayed the same, but now there are many different types of games to be inclusive of the different athletes and sports that exist out there: the Winter Games, Paralympics, and Youth Games.
