What's "West End" mean?

When you see "[direction] end/side" being used, it's used to indicate a part of a city/town/location that is in X direction. For example, if someone tells you they live in the West end of London, it means they live in West London, or in the western part of London. Ex: I'm from South side, Chicago. Ex: I live in the North end of the city.
