What does "Thingamabobs" mean?

"Thingamabobs" is a made-up word that doesn't have any meaning. In the movie "The Little Mermaid" Ariel doesn't know the names of corkscrews. She calls them thingamabobs as a way of showing that she doesn't know what these items are used for or what they are called.
