Is there any characteristic in the word that "non-" can be combined before it?

The word "nonsense" refers to spoken or written words that have no meaning or make no sense. There are no "non-" words you can use to replace it, it is simply the opposite of the word "sense". Having the "non-" at the beginning of a word indicates the meaning of "not". Ex: Nondairy means this milk has no dairy. Ex: I'm a nonconformist so I don't behave according to people's expectations.
